Riverside Yacht Club, CT, USA is seeking a Junior Big Boat Director for the 2024 summer season.
The Riverside Yacht Club’s Junior Program is a well-established and respected program providing sailing instruction for beginners through advanced racing sailors ages 6 - 18yrs. The summer season begins mid-June and runs through mid-August. Riverside Yacht Club has an active race team competing in local JSA regattas. The Riverside Yacht Club’s training boat ﬂeet consists of Optimists, C420s, Laser 4.7s, Laser Radials, Lasers, Fevas, Hobie Waves, Open Skiffs, Ideal18s, and keelboats.
Riverside Yacht Club offers a highly competitive Junior Big Boat program. The Junior Big Boat team meets two evenings a week, and participates in Safety at Sea training as well as beginner and advanced navigation tests. The Junior Big Boat program uses member volunteered PHRF boats including a J111. Depending on the size of the program the Junior Big Boat program may use one or two boats. In addition to the Junior Big Boat Director, there are two to three coaches for the Junior Big Boat program.
Successful applicants will be experienced sailors, who are motivated, hardworking, reliable, enthusiastic, diligent, energetic, creative, and able to work well with others. They should be great mentors, excellent communicators, have the skills to create and execute effective and fun lesson plans, maintain safe practices, and above all demonstrate a genuine passion for sailing and teaching kids. Previous big boat racing experience is required. 18yrs+ is required..
Wages commensurate with qualifications and experience.
