Essential Job Function:
This role will work in conjunction with the waterfront operations including launch and committee boat operations, club sailboat, powerboat fleets, their storage and maintenance, the waterfront and committee boat managers, and management of waterfront assets. The Jr. Program Director works closely with BYC leadership and General Manager to develop the overall sailing and race program strategy, new sailing offerings for the members and other constituencies determined by the club leadership.

Assure that the goals of all staff members are in line with that of the Beverly Yacht Club, and that all coaches comply with the rules and regulations set forth by the BYC. The hiring process for the Junior Staff should start in the early in the shoulder season right after the Labor Day Weekend.2. 3. Develop and implement a comprehensive program curriculum for all levels and aspects of the junior program in conjunction with the Junior Sailing Committee Chair. Review Course fees, compare to competitive clubs in the area, make suggestions on course tuition with GM and Junior Chairperson. Organize and run level 1 & 2 instructor courses. Organize the commissioning and decommissioning of the Junior Sailing assets. Periodically review and update the Junior Sailing Handbook. Identify Junior Sailing assets that need to be replaced, sold and/or purchased. In conjunction with the Waterfront Director, monitor and maintain the club’s sailing and junior support boat fleet, as well as trailers. Oversee and manage the repairs and outside vendors when resources outside of the BYC waterfront staff are insufficient. Host Junior Sailing information session prior to the start and execution of the Junior Program. Communicate with parents, coaches and sailors regarding upcoming events and deadlines. Ensure appropriate planning and communications are in place for the traveling sailors, parents, coaches and other support personnel, and the sailors have the appropriate oversight and support. Ensure sailor evaluations are completed after each session and communicated to parents. Ensure Instructor evaluations are completed by the end of August. Is involved with the creation of the Annual Calendar of events with support form Junior Committee and BYC Management. Maintain accurate records for all information including payroll, attendance (and dismissal) and program rosters. Manage and execute Beverly Jr. Regatta with volunteer support from the Junior committee and BYC members. Support and plan Junior Sailing Social Events. Attend all BYC Staff meetings, Junior Sailing Committee meetings, Council meetings when requested and support of related BYC Events. Ensure that the BYC Junior Sailing Program is in compliance with all Massachusetts Camp guidelines Develop, organize, promote and manage the adult learn to sail program Introduce and deliver powerboat training. Work with Rear Commodore, Junior and Race Chairs to plan, organize and when appropriate, deliver clinics and seminars in the fall, winter and/or spring. Represent BYC at regional and national symposiums and events.
