Job Description
The Hempstead Harbour Club (Glen Cove, NY) is now accepting applications for two positions:
 
· Junior Sailing Program Director (with a winter start, part-time December – June / Full time for 9 weeks June – August)
 
· Junior Sailing Instructor/Racing Coach – Experience as a Racing Coach preferred (June 2023 – August 2023)
  
The Hempstead Harbour Club is known for being a hands-on and welcoming environment. Our program runs for seven weeks, starting late June and ending mid-August, Monday through Friday, 9:30 am – 4:30 pm, with approximately 50 junior sailors. HHC’s Junior Sailing fleet includes Optimists, RS Fevas, some Lasers, O’pen Skiff, Picos, and six coach boats. Many of our junior sailors participate in several JSA LIS regattas.
 
Program Director/Head Instructor Responsibilities:
· Hire, supervise, and coordinate instructors
· Promote good sportsmanship with instructors and all junior sailors
· Prior experience as a sailing instructor preferred
· Purchasing and maintenance of the fleet and coach boats
· Provide written updates for presentation to the Board of Governors
· Open communication with parents, outreach to inquiries
· Coordination of participation in regattas
· Successful candidates will have experience working in and/or managing a Junior Sailing Program
 
Junior Sailing Instructor/Racing Coach:
· Must have US Sailing Small Boat Level 1 Instructor or higher certification and Safe Powerboat Handling
· Experience as a Racing Coach
· Effectively coach and motivate all sailors
· Maintain a positive, enriching learning environment while encouraging good sportsmanship by all sailors
