Job Description
Centerport Yacht Club is seeking sailing instructors for summer 2023. The CYC Junior Sailing program is designed to develop knowledgeable youth sailors and develop a life-long passion for the sport and an appreciation for the water. This instructional 7-week program is for beginning through advanced juniors, ranging between the ages of 5 to 17. The program offers instruction in Optimist, ILCA(Laser), Ideal 18, C420 and Fevas. The program enrolls approximately 80 Junior Sailors, 10 Instructors and 2 Junior Instructors. Applicants should have at least one season of prior instructor experience, or the equivalent, and a strong foundation of sailing skills. Instructors are expected to: work alongside and build rapport with other staff, member volunteers, and Yacht Club leadership to ensure the successful learning of all sailors, foster a love and respect among sailors for the water, each other, and their equipment, be hard working, organized, honest, and be able to give and receive feedback, maintain a proactive mindset and be attentive to a high level of detail and exercise sound judgment and decision-making while assessing and mitigating risk.

 

Certifications: US Sailing Level 1 (or international equivalent), Safe Powerboat Handling, and Safety and Rescue Boat Handling certificates.

Competitive salary is based on experience. Daily lunch is provided. Housing may be available for long-distance/international instructors.
