The Orleans Yacht Club, Inc., sits on the shore of the
Orleans Town Cove, a beautiful location with perfect
conditions for sailing and sailing instruction. The Club
operates a Junior Sailing Program serving children ages 8
to18 for eight weeks, plus one week before and after classes
to set up and break down equipment.
The Orleans Yacht Club is looking for a Junior Sailing
Program Sailing Camp Director (JSPCD) to instruct
beginners through advanced for Optis, Precisions,
Capris, and 420s. This position offers an excellent
opportunity to improve your sailing skills and make a
lasting impact on children of varying ages.
This position reports directly to the Vice Commodore and works closely with the Club
The JSPCD manages all aspects of the Junior Sailing Program, overseeing the sailing program’s
operations, performance, and planning while supporting the Club Administrator’s maintaining
compliance and permitting by the local Board of Health and other state or federal authorities
governing recreational camp regulations. The job is hands-on, physical, and administrative and
takes place indoors and outdoors in various weather.

o Responsible for oversight of the JSP, program reporting, assisting with marketing
strategy, care of property and equipment, staffing and staff training, programming and
curriculum, extra-curricular activities, communicating with parents, health care supervisor,
and working with the Vice Commodore and OYC Administrator.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This position requires full-time on-site participation during the program’s operation (as per the dates
above). Depending on circumstances and needs, the schedule includes some weekends, early
mornings, and some evening hours. The OYC expects some work to take place during the off months for
wrap-up reporting, next season planning and preparation, budgeting, and solidifying staffing needs (see
This is a combined Salary and Hourly position. The JSPCD is a salary position for the ten weeks of the
Junior Sailing Program as per the dates above. The JSPCD shall be an hourly position when performing

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS
You shall have a Bachelor’s Degree and training in either elementary or early childhood
education, youth recreation, or equivalent experience. You shall have experience supervising or
working with children from eight to eighteen years old, experience supervising staff ranging from
15 to 25 years old, and completed a camping administration course or have two seasons of
You must be 21 years old.
You should have yacht club experience or with sailing club organizations.
You shall submit five (3) Positive work and personal recommendations.
You shall have a car and a valid driver’s license.
Positive CORI/SORI results.
Current certificate of immunization.
Involvement with related professional camping and sailing associations is helpful.
