Job Description

This unique position is for an independent individual who loves to spend all-day on the water, visiting islands and parks, and teaching to and learning with a small group of students. Because of the nature of this class, our Land & Sea Instructors are charged with significant responsibility. Applicants should be adaptable and knowledgeable in general seamanship and have the skills to create and execute effective and fun lesson plans, maintain safe practices and above all, have a genuine passion for teaching kids. This isn't your typical instructor position and is perfect for an educator who wants a break from the classroom.

Job Accountabilities

Responsible for the teaching and safety of up to six 8- to 13-year-old students on-and-off the water.

Provide a supportive learning environment to help learners develop inner-strength, self-confidence, and technical skills.

Give students the opportunity to learn and play in Camden Harbor, Camden State Parks, and surrounding coastal islands all while focusing on team building and STEAM activities such as navigation, marine ecology, anchoring, knot tying, arts-and-crafts, tides, seamanship, boat maneuvering, plant identification, scavenger hunts, SUP surfing, etc. Whatever skills you bring to the table, you can teach them!

Job Requirements
-At least 18 years-of-age.
-Two-season's experience teaching students in any capacity.
-Current CPR & First Aid certifications (we offer a pro-bono course pre-season).
-Pass a background check.

-US Sailing Level 1, Teaching License, Ed. Tech Certification, and/or Masters of Teaching/Education.
-OUPV/SixPack or 25-Ton Masters License or higher.
