Sailing Coach Opportunities at Larchmont Yacht Club for Summer 2024
About Us:
Larchmont Yacht Club is a leading yachting community located in Larchmont New York. Our dynamic Junior Sailing Program, with a legacy of producing lifelong sailors, is seeking qualified and passionate Sailing Coaches for Summer 2024. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a large program that engages 230 sailors, 25 Junior Instructors (JIs), and 25 Coaches, contributing to the development of the next generation of sailors. Our instructors will be able to participate in our Z420 Team Racing and club Z420 Team Racing events.
Job Responsibilities:
General Duties: Instruct and mentor junior sailors of various skill levels, from beginners to advanced racers.
On-Water Supervision: Lead and supervise on-water activities, drills, and races.
Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the coaching team to develop and implement effective training programs.
Feedback: Provide constructive criticism and support to help improve sailing skills.
Equipment Care: Oversee the maintenance and care of sailing equipment, coachboats, and program facilities.
Setting an Example: Act as a role model for Junior Instructors, promoting sportsmanship and professionalism.
About our Program:
Instructors will be required to attend instructor week, Junior Commissioning and all Larchmont Yacht Club Junior Race Week Events
Instructors who excel will be given opportunities to coach private lessons and coach at away regattas
Qualified instructors can apply to be lead instructors. This is a leadership role. Lead instructors will decide the curriculum, drills and oversee for their class.

International candidates are welcome to apply. Limited housing is available for qualified candidates on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Requirements:
US Sailing Level 1 certification or higher.
Safe Sport certification.
Valid New York state boating license or a reciprocal state license.
CPR and First Aid certification.
US Sailing or US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling certification.
International certifications may be considered for non-US resident instructors.
Compensation:
Compensation is based on experience and includes an hourly salary, private lesson opportunities, and overtime pay.
