Job Description
Larchmont Yacht Club is currently seeking talented, and hard-working individuals to instruct in our junior program for the coming 2022 summer. The Larchmont Junior Sailing Program takes pride in its ability to create lifelong sailors.

Larchmont Yacht Clubs Junior sailing program is a large and dynamic program of 200 sailors, 25 JI’s and 20 Coaches. Any given week there will be sailors from Larchmont Yacht Club competing all over the Long Island Sound and beyond. We host our annual Larchmont Junior Raceweek. Our instructors will be able to participate in our V15 Team Racing weekly as well as our V15 Team Racing events.


We are looking for experienced instructors for all areas of our program, and specifically will be hiring for the following positions this coming year.


Laser Coach

C420 Coach

Feva Coach

Optimist Coach

Big Boat Coach


About our program:

  • We run Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

  • 9:00 am - 12:00 pm all instructors will coach beginner Opti in the morning program

  • 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm we run our advanced sailing program

  • Instructors will be required to attend instructor week, Junior Commissioning and all Larchmont Yacht Club Junior Race Week Events

  • Instructors who excell will be given opportunities to coach private lessons and coach at away regattas

  • Qualified instructors can apply to be lead instructors. This is a leadership role. Lead instructors will decide the curriculum, drills and oversee for their class.

  • Wages are competitive and based on experience, certifications and work history;

  • housing can be provided to the right applicant.

Job Requirements
Applicants must have a US state boating certificate (home state), at a minimum US Sailing Small Boat Level 1 Instructor, CPR & First Aid Certification, and US Safe Powerboat Handling Certification by the start of the program in June.

Individuals must be organized, self-driven and communicate well with ALL SKILL LEVELS of junior sailors.
