Job Description

Larchmont Yacht Club's Junior Sailing program started in 1925. Currently in its 97th year Larchmont Yacht Club has one of the largest Junior Sailing programs on the Long Island Sound. Our program is a member club of the JSA of the Long Island Sound and we sail Optis, Fevas, Open Skiffs, Lasers and C420s. We also have a Big boat program that includes J109 and J105.

The Junior Sailing Administrator at Larchmont Yacht Club’s Junior Sailing Program is responsible for overseeing the administrative aspects of our Junior Sailing Program. The Junior Sailing Program will. This role will be a main contact point for parents of the program. Pay is based on experience and very competitive.


DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO)


  • Meet with Lead Coaches and Admin at 7:45 a.m. daily, review the lesson plans / drills for the day, including inclement weather day activities.

  • Hold a general staff meeting / safety huddle at 8:00 a.m. daily with the purpose being to ensure the staff understands the mission(s) for the day.

  • Ensure safe operation of all coach boats and monitoring the necessary boat repair logs

  • Maintain dock areas, dry sail area and Junior Clubhouse with an environment of “ship-shape,” and team building which is expected of all staff including Junior Instructors. This model should be instilled in all areas of the program.

  • Oversee the drop off / dismissal of the sailing program daily, helping to maintain order.

  • Monitor the level and quality of instruction, both on and off the water by the coaches.

  • Instill professionalism within the staff, maintain dress code standards, motivate coaches to perform to their highest abilities and encourage coaches to strive for excellence.

  • Being the first point of contact for program parents

  • Maintaining Attendance records for Sailing Instructors

  • Coordinate away regatta logistics with instructors and parents

  • Assist with registration of Junior Race week

  • Clubspot Responsibilities:

    • Learn Clubspot registration software

    • Program wide Communication, create a communication calendar
