Job Description
Junior Sailing Administrator
 
We are seeking a professional for full time work from June to August. This will not be a coaching possition. 
The Junior Sailing Administrator at Larchmont Yacht Club’s (”LYC”) Junior Sailing Program is
responsible for overseeing the entirety of the Junior Sailing Program operations on and off the
water. The Junior Sailing Administrator reports directly to Sailing Director. Main responsibilities are: (1) Ensuring the safety of all sailors and coaches of the program, (2)
Assisting the coaches in reaching their goals, and (3) Carrying out the mission of the Larchmont Yacht Club’s Junior Sailing Committee. (4) Instill seamanship and build team equity with the Sailing Coaches both on and off the water.
 
DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO)
● Meet with Lead Coaches and Admin at 7:45 a.m. daily, review the lesson plans / drills for the day, including
inclement weather day activities.
● Hold a general staff meeting / safety huddle at 8:00 a.m. daily with the purpose being to ensure the staff
understands the mission(s) for the day.
● Review any concerns which will affect their abilities to perform their roles.
● Develop systems to ensure the program is running smoothly (examples: maintaining program equipment,
sailors equipment, fueling coach boats and daily tasks of coaches).
● Ensure safe operation of all coach boats and monitoring the necessary boat repair logs.
● Maintain the order of the junior docks and sailors during boat launching, returning and the dry sail area,
working with the Lead Coaches on organizing their pods.
● Maintain dock areas, dry sail area and Junior Clubhouse with an environment of “ship-shape,” and team
building which is expected of all staff including Junior Instructors. This model should be instilled in all areas
of the program.
● Oversee the drop off / dismissal of the sailing program daily, helping to maintain order.
● Organize the Coaches on their roles at Junior Commissioning Day.
● Organize the Perpetual Awards and Club Champs.
● Monitor the level and quality of instruction, both on and off the water by the coaches.
● Oversee coaches are engaged with their sailors and safely following all Club protocols both on and off
water.
● Encourage positivity and sportsmanship amongst sailors and coaches.
● Assist coaches as needed.
● Run a program which teaches the all-encompassing definition of seamanship; the skills, techniques, the
attitude, and practice of handling a ship or boat at sea.
● Instill professionalism within the staff, maintain dress code standards, motivate coaches to perform to their
highest abilities and encourage coaches to strive for excellence.
● Being the first point of contact for program parents
● Maintaining Attendance records for Sailing Instructors
● Coordinate away regattas with instructors and parents
● Assist with registration of Junior Race week
● Clubspot Responsibilities:
o Learn Clubspot registration software
o Program wide Communication, create a communication calendar
