Job Description

The prestigious New York Athletic Club is seeking a full-time seasonal Launch Operator for our Travers Island, Pelham Manor locationThe New York Athletic Club, founded in 1868, is a platinum and emerald-rated, private club. The NYAC remains steadfastly committed to its roots, supporting athletes at the highest levels of Olympic competition while providing world class facilities at its two locations – the Manhattan City House and Travers Island in Westchester County – for those of its members who wish simply to remain fit and healthy.


The Launch Operator is responsible for the safe passage of members their families and guests to and from the floating docks. They also assist the members in the fueling of boats, keeping fuel sale log, getting ice, correctly filling out “chits”, keep garbage areas emptied and general policing of Yacht Club property. The Launch Operator will report directly to the Waterfront Manager and will closely collaborate with the Yacht Club team.

Qualifications and Experience:

·         Valid and current U.S.C.G.and Driver’s License

·         Boat handling in adverse conditions.

·         General boat maintenance knowledge.

·         Sense of Direction.

·         High-energy, outgoing personality with strong professional interpersonal skills.

·         Diplomatic team player, able to foster relationships with team members.

·         Strong verbal skills and able to read English.

Job Requirements
· A valid and current United States Coast Guard License.

· Have a positive attitude and be a team member.

· Be courteous, gracious, and helpful to members their families and guests.

· Assist members with heavy packages and supplies.

· Provide members with docking and undocking assistance.

· Be proactive in your position and anticipate member needs.

· Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

· Have reliable transportation.

· The ability to work “hands on.”

· Oversee Opening and Closing Checklists

· Follow the clean as you work policy, responsible for sanitation and cleanliness of station at all times.

· Follow all safety procedures for operating and cleaning all machinery at all times.

· Maintains a safe workstation.

· Maintains neat professional appearance and observes personal cleanliness rules at all times.

· Perform other related duties, tasks, and responsibilities as required or apparent
