Job Description

• Interview, hire and train all sailing instructors
• Interact and speak with customers on a daily basis
• Complete understanding of all WFC programs and activities
• Lead the design and implementation of curriculum for all sailing programs
• Track customer feedback on all sailing programs
• Identify and assist or lead in the maintenance for all sailboats

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1) Program Development
a. Work with other team members to develop new or change existing offerings
b. Lead the evaluation of each sailing program at the end of the year
c. Aid in the marketing of the WFC and all programs when directed and necessary
d. Consider new ways to expand WFC’s reach into surrounding communities and beyond
e. Search for in-need groups and organizations who can benefit from subsidized or free offerings
f. Promote and discuss programs with perspective customers, groups and schools

2) Adult Programs
a. Recruit, hire, train, supervise and mentor instructors
b. If necessary and as needed perform the role of Sailing Instructor
c. Work alongside Front Desk staff to ensure all sailing programs are staffed
d. Develop and prepare instructional materials and curriculum with repeatable and attainable goals
e. Prepare, inspect, and aid (if needed) in the repair of all necessary boats
f. Attend, as reasonable, community programs

3) Junior Programs
a. Recruit, hire, train, supervise and mentor instructors throughout the summer program
b. Plan and implement instructor orientation and training as needed and directed
c. Prepare, inspect, and aid (if needed) in repair of all necessary boats
d. Develop and prepare instructional materials and curriculum
e. Assist with parent meetings as needed
f. If necessary and as needed perform the role of Sailing Instructor

4) Customer Service
a. Interact with customers before and after programs to provide appropriate program suggestions and obtain feedback after program completion
b. Diffuse difficult customer/parent situations, troubleshoot issues that arise, brainstorm and implement solutions in a fast paced work environment
c. Work with Front Desk staff to ensure customer records and seasonal statistics are being tracked

5) General
a. Manage program budget.
b. Assist in the oversight of other WFC programming, where needed.
c. Responsible for the organization and day-of logistics for any sailing regatta hosted or in part by the WFC.
d. Attend all special events (Benefit Party, Benefit Regatta, Open Houses, etc.)
e. Help organize and schedule adult and junior volunteers.

- Start date is flexible, ideally February 14, 2022.
- Potential for remote work during the off-season.
- Seasonal flexibility will be considered.

- Salary commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements
Preferred skills and certifications:
Sailing instruction and program management experience
US Sailing Level 1 Instructor or equivalent

US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling Certificate

First Aid and CPR certification
Previous regatta management experience
