Job Description
Sheridan Shore Sailing School offers sailors of all ages the opportunity to experience the thrill, challenge, and exhilaration of sailing. Our classes feature a low student-to-instructor ratio to teach the skills of sailing and seamanship to grade school, junior high school sailors, high school students, and adults of all ability levels.

Job Description:

  • Serves as a mentor/role model for coach/s and sailor/s and aims to create a positive environment for learning, sportsmanship, while being professional and encouraging.

  • Demonstrate, encourage and maintain a constructive, safe and fun environment for sailing school student/s, coach/s, as well as respect the WHC member/s and staff.

  • Enforces SSSS rules and safety policies.

  • Deliver national competition level instruction in accordance with the US Sailing curriculum, using methods and techniques appropriate for each student while maintaining a collegial, nurturing, and mutually supportive culture.

  • Assist in Instructor Training sessions.

  • Logistics that coincide with your teams, emails, phone calls, attendance, and daily photos for social media.

  • Organize and execute the high school sailor sign up meetings and race team meetings.

  • Organize and execute SSSS-based regattas

  • Organize and execute travel events such as Participation in East Coast regattas, 420 Nationals, Orange Bowl, 420 Midwinters, and Winter Talks.

  • Maintain Powerboat, Injury, Attendance, Weather, and Sailboat Daily and Weekly Logs and Checks.

  • Ensure boats, trailers, vehicles, facilities, and equipment owned, leased, or borrowed by SSSS are maintained and in proper working order.

  • Promptly notify the Director of Sailing and Administrator and assist in arranging for professional repair or replacement, if repairs exceed SSSS’s ability

  • Operations take place during the daytime, evenings, and weekends and such availability is required.

Job Requirements
Coaches shall be certified by US Sailing Small Boat Level 1, Safe Sport, Heads UP, CPR, AED, First Aid, and US Sailing Safe Powerboating Handling Certified. Keelboat Coach shall also be US Sailing Basic Keelboat Certified (small boat level one not needed for Keelboat coach).
