If you have a passion for sailing, possess strong leadership and organizational skills and enjoy working in an environment which is conducive to teamwork and learning, we want to talk to you.

About the Position:
Brant Beach Yacht Club (BBYC) is located on beautiful Long Beach Island (LBI), New Jersey – a vacation destination for all ages. Located in Brant Beach we sail on Manahawkin Bay.
With a newly constructed Sailing Center, a beautiful Clubhouse, summer programs
enrollment of 100+, a large harbor, and quick access to our sailing area, BBYC offers a vibrant environment for water sports and sailing. Our Sailing Program offers seasonal racing and clinics including junior programs, summer sailing camp and adult learn-to-sail.
The Sailing Program fleet consists of Optimists, 420s, Sunfish, Lasers, RS Quest and 9 Coach Boats. Additional private instruction will be available for youth and adults on these and other boats either club owned or privately owned.

BBYC is seeking a Sailing Director who is motivated and enthusiastic to teach sailing – from beginners to racers, and continuing education for our sailing staff. Applicants will need to possess strong leadership, organizational, management, teaching and communications skills, and have been a great sailor.
The ideal candidate is one who wants to contribute to the BBYC Sailing Program for the long term. Applicants will need to possess strong leadership, organizational, management, teaching and communication skills and be passionate about entertaining youth and developing team spirit.

Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Bonus incentives will be presented to candidates.

- Lead the design and implementation of curriculum for all sailing programs.
- Recruit, train, mentor and supervise sailing instructors and race coaches
- Interact and speak with parents, sailors, members, and staff on a daily basis.
- Accept and implement feedback
- Develop a complete understanding of BBYC programs, culture and activities.
- Recruit and develop junior sailors to support the sailing program
- Focus on safety while teaching boating skills
- Maintain records of participants and their progress in the sailing programs
- Maintain club owned boats for camps and sailing teams
- Maintain the Sailing Office in a neat and orderly manner
- Maintain power boats used for all sailing programs
- Organize youth participation in interclubs and regattas
- Mentor and supervise the Sailing Instructor In Training Program
- Lead, support and oversee the supervision of youth at offsite regattas
- Manage adult sailing classes and private lessons
- Mentor parents on their role as volunteers
- Coordinate and schedule private lessons
- Manage the BBYC Interclub Regatta
- Advertise regattas and Interclubs to our sailors and guide the registration process
- Support, but not chair, other regattas hosted by BBYC
- Support staffing needs for non-programs related BBYC sailing (organize staff to
run club races, safety boats, etc)
- Report to the Members on a weekly basis in season on upcoming events, recent
sailing activities, and achievements.
- Conduct pre-season training with staff
- Conduct pre-season parent orientation
- Conduct end of season interviews with staff
- Attend monthly or bi-monthly meetings in the off season to interview candidates
for hire, order equipment, and plan for summer.

BBYC has a comprehensive Junior Program including sailing, surfing, tennis, swimming, arts and crafts camp, and more. For our adults, we have a full schedule of social events in the summer, a “B by the Sea” grill/restaurant, as well as many water sports, sailing, tennis and pickleball activities.
