Job Description

Cedar Point Yacht Club (CPYC) is seeking two Sailing Instructors for the 2023 summer program including college sailors.  Instructors work with a team of 8 US Sailing certified instructors under the guidance of a Sailing Director. Founded in 1887, CPYC is located on the Long Island Sound in Westport, Connecticut. We are a club made up of volunteers committed to the sport of sailing. Our program is open to the general public.  The mission of CPYC’s Junior Sailing Program is to introduce Jr. Sailors to the joy of sailing and the thrill of sailboat racing. All classes focus on basic boat handling, seamanship, and sportsmanship; while building racing performance and tactical skills. We strive to develop teamwork, individual initiative, responsibility, and environmental stewardship.

CPYC runs an eight-week summer program from mid-June to mid-August with approximately 100 junior sailors.  We sail and race Optimist, Feva, Club 420, Laser (Standard, Radial, 4.7). We also offer a Jr. Big Boat Program for our older Sailors. CPYC host’s several Jr. Regatta’s throughout the season. All Jr. Sailing staff attend a paid one-week training session prior to the start of the 8-week program for a total of 9 paid weeks. Compensation is competitive, we pay overtime, weather days and provide the option to do private lessons for additional income.

Job Requirements
We seek experienced sailors who are passionate about our sport, are able to build and execute on daily lesson plans, communicate effectively, have a strong work ethic and above all serve as a role model and mentor our sailors.
