Job Description
The Barnstable Yacht Club is hiring a full-time Head Sailing Instructor for the 2023 summer sailing season. The successful candidate will be able to enthusiastically teach and share their love of the water to help us develop our member’s children into lifelong sailors. We have learn to sail emphasizing fundamentals, as well as junior and advanced racers in Opti's and 420's. Barnstable Yacht Club is located on Barnstable Harbor. Our season runs from late June through late August.
 

The Head Instructor is expected to lead the Barnstable Yacht Club sailing program, including:

  • Manage a team of Junior Instructors
  • Develop and execute daily lesson plans
  • Teach junior sailors the fundamentals of sailing, racing, and seamanship
  • Address needs of the multiple skill levels by differentiating instruction
  • Understand and communicate fun in the teaching of sailing and racing
  • Establish respectful and constructive relationships with students and their families
  • Collaborate with the other instructors (Tennis and Swimming) on events and activities 
Job Requirements
Requirements:
• Prior experience instructing/coaching sailing
• Experience operating a powerboat
• Level appropriate US Sailing certification, safe boating, CPR and First Aid.
