Job Description

St. Francis Yacht Club is one of the premier yacht clubs in the world, home to over 2,400 esteemed and diverse members, all of whom share a passion for yachting. Located on the shore of San Francisco Bay, the City Clubhouse features three unique dining spaces, numerous elegant meeting spaces and athletic facilities for junior sailors and adults alike. The club’s regatta schedule is one of the most competitive in the world, playing host to 140+ days of racing, including several Grade 1 international regattas. Additionally, StFYC owns a private island 70 miles up the Delta, where our members enjoy social and boating opportunities year-round.

 Position:  Head Junior Coach


Ensure that the junior membership at St. Francis YC represents the club in the highest possible esteem; instill juniors with Corinthian values and encourage sportsmanship and teamwork.

Provide assistance and input into scheduling and organizing of high school practices, StFYC Race Teams and Keelboats teams and regattas. 

Coaching Fall High School, Spring After School and Youth Race Team practices, regattas, clinics, and some team travel.

Mentoring/yearly planning with Junior sailors to determine individuals’ goals and training opportunities.

Coordinate programs, practices, and races with surrounding Bay area yacht clubs

Responsible for maintenance of Junior assets including fiberglass repair when required, and aesthetic up-keep to the St. Francis YC standard.

Handling inquiries from membership, parents, guests, and other yacht clubs in a timely fashion.

Providing leadership and a senior presence to the coaching staff

Assisting in the upkeep of Junior Sailing portion of the website – posting of information, news articles, results, and photos.

Providing support to the race department team, when required, to ensure smooth operation of water events.

Job Requirements
Enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with good team ethic

Background in sailing/racing program management with children ages 12 -18 yrs.

Solid understanding of boat and rigging repair / maintenance.

US SAILING Level One or Higher Certification.

Valid Drivers License and ability to drive trailers.
