Job Description
The South Carolina Yacht Club located on Hilton Head Island is looking for a well-qualified high performance sailing coach. The South Carolina Yacht Club sailing program is emerging into one of the best junior programs in the United States. We are looking for a professional coach that can continue the growth in our junior programming as well as expand and provide full time coaching for members and guests.
The SCYC program although only thirty-six years young boast three junior World Championships, two National Championships, USODA Team Trial victory and a North American Championship in the last three years.
The high-performance coach will report to the Yachting Director, Mark Newman, Fleet Captain, Dan Anderson, and Commodore Eric Norman. This group of avid sailors is looking for a committed high-level coach to continue to move junior sailing forward.
Candidates should:
Have at least 5 years of coaching experience.Coach Optimists, ILCAs, and or c420, and 29ers.Has some international coaching experience.Willing to relocate.Work with sailors of all ages.
This person will be responsible for:
Continued growth of our ILCA, 29er, and Optimists programing.On the water coaching and debriefs. Promoting and scheduling regional clinics at SCYC for high performance sailors.Regatta scheduling, team logistics, recruiting. Asset management and maintenance.Day to day operations. (Budget, income, expenses)Assist with adult and high school programing.
