Job Description
Portland Yacht Club, located in Falmouth, Maine just north of Portland, seeks a summer sailing Program Administrator/Head Instructor for Summer 2024 and beyond. This new position will be responsible for overseeing and organizing our youth sailing enrollment and our non-racing sailing classes.
 

The creation of this role reflects the goal of the Portland Yacht Club, as it studies our junior sailing program, to commit to sailing excellence in all aspects and age levels. We want our coaches and junior program administrators to have clear responsibilities and expect from them the shared commitment to excellence along with demonstrated sailing experience and proficiency.

The Program Administrator/head Instructor will assist the Sailing/Race Director in all aspects of sailing program execution:

  -safety/compliance, etc.
  -Lesson planning/daily schedule for non-race team programs
  -Behavior/instructor support
  -Manages Attendance/enrollment
  -On-water coaching/support when/where needed

  -Manages all non-racing instructors on a day-to-day basis in consultation with Sailing Director
   -Manages Youth evening racing/day races/invites
    -Responsible for "Minnows", our final week introduction to sailing program.

Founded in 1869, three years after the city of Portland was leveled by the great fire, Portland Yacht Club is one of the oldest, continuously operating yacht Clubs in the US. The Club is located in Falmouth, Maine, on the shores of beautiful Casco Bay, just north of Portland. PYC is a private Club, open only to members, their guests, and visiting yachtsmen.
