The Naval Academy Athletic Association invites applications and nominations for the full-time position of Head Coach for the Varsity Offshore (OS) Sailing Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for fielding a highly competitive Offshore Sailing team as well as supporting the Naval Academy’s institutional Sailing Program throughout the year. In addition to coaching, the Head Coach is responsible for organizing, directing, and administering the program at large, to include overseeing the maintenance infrastructure, supervising assistant coaches, and volunteer coaches for the Offshore Sailing (OS) team, and evaluating their performance. Additional duties include fundraising and external communications and outreach in support of the team. This individual will be responsible for planning and coordinating USNA hosted regattas, team travel to away regattas, and conduct summer camps. The individual will work with the Director, Naval Academy Sailing, and Associate Directors of Athletics for Administration and Operation, and the Associate for Finance regarding the operating budget for the OS team. Other important qualifications include fiscal management, computer, and multi-media skills and practice and compliance with Naval Academy rules and regulations. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications: Extensive regatta and competitive sailing organizational and administrative experience, sailing instructor experience and U.S. citizenship.
Preferred: U.S. Sailing Certifications, programs management experience and documented success in a leadership role reflecting involvement in all areas of responsibility. Successful head coach experience in a comparable intercollegiate operation.
