Job Description

The Tred Avon Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program is seeking enthusiastic coaches for the summer 2024 season.  Positions are available in all skill level classes from beginners to Opti/Laser/420 Race Team.  TAYC is located in the town of Oxford on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.  Oxford is ideally situated 90 minutes from Washington D.C., Baltimore and the Delaware beaches, and two hours from Philadelphia.  Our great beach coupled with a prevailing SW wind makes it ideal for kiting. Founded in 1931, TAYC has a strong sailing tradition and has hosted national and international-level regattas.

The term of employment for coaches is 9 weeks, from June 10 to August 13.  June 10-14 is an orientation and set up week.  Instruction for sailors begins on June 17 and runs for eight weeks (through August 12).  August 12 and 13 are breakdown and clean-up days.  The hours of the program are generally Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.  In addition to the program hours, there are a few evening commitments for instructors (such as the annual awards banquet).

Pay is commensurate with experience.  Housing is available and lunches are provided by the club.  Coaches also have the opportunity to supplement their base pay with private lessons offered by the club to junior sailors and adults.

Please send a resume and brief statement of your experience and interest to: juniorsail@tayc.com.
