Melges 15 and J70 Adult Race Coach

The right individual will lead J70 and Melges programs. Athletes range from novice through expert level dinghy and small keelboat racers. Great opportunity to help build a dynamic adult racing program. Nantucket Yacht Club owns 6 Melges 15s and 3 J70s. The coach will lead practices, chalk talks, strategy sessions, and help build an enthusiastic, positive following in these fleets.

Nantucket Yacht Club has an enthusiastic sailing membership, and boasts one of the best training areas in New England. Consistent breeze and the ability to train in flat water or waves really allows for the program to target a range of skills. Compensation is competitive for the right individual, and housing and meals are part of the overall package.

Core Competencies

• Highly experienced in dinghies and small keelboats, with a thorough understanding of all positions.
• Thorough understanding of Asymmetrical boathandling, tactics, and strategy.
• Experience with leading and/or managing sailing programs; understanding what is practical and ideal when designing a practice.
• High level of emotional intelligence to read a group of adults and interact in a way that ensures they are positive and enthusiastic after every session
• Attention to detail for rigging and guiding maintenance of the Melges and J70 fleets
• Appropriate National Sailing Instructor Certification
