Job Description
 

MIT Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER)

Assistant Varsity Coach at MIT Sailing Pavilion

General Core Responsibilities:

  • Coach Coed and Women’s Sailing Teams at weekday practices and weekend regattas.

  • Work with Head Coaches to help manage travel logistics and accounting for team travel.

  • Perform required training and administrative work as required by MIT Athletics and NCAA policies.

  • Maintain high standards of integrity and professionalism.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Interface with high performing MIT student athletes in a respectful and professional way.


  • Run safe and effective practices to further the skill development of Varsity Sailors with a range of racing experience.


  • Assist Head Coaches with all aspects of running a successful Varsity sailing team.


  • Help foster a collaborative and fun team culture.


  • Maintain First Aid/CPR and US Sailing Certifications.


  • This is a part time position but opportunities exist for the right candidate to perform boatwork or instructional roles with the MIT Sailing Recreational program and make it a full time role.

Supervision Received:

Supervision is received from Varsity Head Coaches.

This is a salaried position with no benefits.

Job Requirements
Background and competitive/coaching success in collegiate sailing and team racing. Appropriate certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, are required within 30 days of hire. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a background check.
