Job Requirements
Experience managing sailing club training and racing programs. Reporting to the Murrays Bay Sailing Club Sailing Committee. Experience in effectively managing relationships with internal (club, committee members, staff, sailors and parents) and external stakeholders (community associations, community members, sponsors, NZIODA and YNZ).
Experience providing strategic advice to Committees / parents / community on all matters related to the sport of sailing.
Recent and significant experience in managing an athletic program for sailing excellence with speciality in youth sailing development including internationally recognized classes, and of course the International Optimist.
Experience and a track record in a sports management role running a full program and responsibility with numerous sailors, coaches and parents.
Minimum 3 years total full time coaching experience.
An individual resume of competitive sailing results at national and international levels.
A resume indicating coaching experience at national and international levels, showing a history of coaching both in New Zealand and abroad, including consistent high levels of performance at major regattas in NZ and abroad.
Must NOT be currently campaigning towards, or have immediate plans to campaigns towards Olympic or America's Cup sailing and be available for the entire season employed to be able to provide consistency of coaching.
A history of mentoring junior instructors and coaches.
Lead sailing camps both onsite and offsite and be able to organise all aspects of a sailing camp.
Able to use video and other technology efficiently to deliver learning.
Well organised with individual sailing tailored to individual sailors.
Well organised with goal setting and full spectrum delivery of fitness, nutrition, strategy, tactics, wellbeing, speed, boat handling (including specifically high performing Optimist knowledge), starting, venue analysis, hardware of boats, sail design, sail and boat set up, teamwork and team racing, psychology and rules and sportsmanship.
Able to build rapport with the athletes and parents.
Qualifications
YNZ Senior Sailing Instructor/Coach Certification or similar,
Valid first aid certificate
VHF/Restricted radio operator's certificate
Vast experience from first time racing to world championship level regatta management
Ministry of Justice - Police checked
Safe sport training for athletes aged 8-15.
