MYC Junior Sailing Head Instructor

The Mantoloking Yacht Club on New Jersey's beautiful Barnegat Bay seeks a Head Instructor for our Summer Junior Sailing Program.

This is a twelve week position, running mid June through mid August. We sail five days a week. Head Instructor hours are 8am - 5pm daily plus event-specific hours during the week. Highly competitive salary offered, with opportunity for merit based bonus at the end of the season.

Candidates must be US Sailing Level 2/3 Certified and have current CPR/First Aid, Safe Sport and Safe Boating certifications.

Ideal Sailing Experience:

• 4+ years of experience as a Sailing Coach
• Strong knowledge of rigging/sailing techniques for Opti, C420 and Laser sailboats
• Understanding of youth sailing and youth racing rules and regulations, ability to communicate them effectively 
• Understanding of standard safety protocols – ensure they are followed both on water and in MYC yard
• Manage usage of all MYC Club sailing equipment 
• Organize and oversee MYC sailing events and program participation in local regattas and competitions

Ideal Management Experience:

• At least 3 years experience managing Sailing Instructors
• Ability to craft and communicate curriculum to staff of Sailing Instructors
• Manage requisite administrative duties, oversee staff hours, payroll submission, etc.
• Oversee goals and development of staff (12 Instructors and Racing Coach)
• Give ongoing feedback on staff performance to improve quality of instruction for program participants

Interpersonal Experience:

• Instill a love and passion for sailing in program participants
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends
• Communicate effectively and professionally with sailors, parents, club members and club leadership
• Be hard working, organized, and prepared
• Effectively manage disciplinary policies for sailors ages 7 - 15
