Job Description

The sailmaker will manage the sail loft, repair and maintain our extensive sail inventory and be a key member of the sailing team, specializing in sail team and rig set up.

This is a perfect entry-level position for someone looking to gain professional sailmaking skills. Prior experience is a plus, but not required. Knowledge of sewing/ a sewing machine is required. Must have a will to learn, be open-minded and take on any challenges that come their way. Ideally this is a person who has a wide array of real-life experience to convey to future rock stars of our sport both on the water and in the sail loft.

Sailing skills assumed and welcomed. Actively competing on Oakcliff teams is expected. We would support the ability for the right employee to do pro-sailing or coaching as well, especially if it would benefit Oakcliff as a whole. The work schedule is as follows: 6 days/week during the summer (June-September), 5 days/week during the off season (November-May), with a three week break around Christmas. We can be flexible with the schedule as long as the work gets done.

Oakcliff is a high energy, fluid work environment and candidates should be able to adjust to rapidly changing priorities and opportunities and above all stay positive and constructive. Positive attitude is critical.

This position is full time: Summer 6 days a week, Winter 4.5 days a week, 3 week break at the end of the year.

Salary commensurate with experience.
