Oakcliff is a training and coaching center located in Oyster Bay NY with an America’s Cup-like campus consisting of a boat shop, boat yard, meeting spaces and a fleet of over 97 boats including the world’s largest fleet of Match 40s, Nacra 17, 49er and FXs as well as 4 Farr40s, a Class 40, Shields, Melges 24s and Waspzs.
The sailmaker will manage the sail loft, repair and maintain our extensive sail inventory and be a key member of the sailing team, specializing in sail team and rig set up.
This is a perfect entry-level position for someone looking to gain professional sailmaking skills. Prior experience is a plus, but not required. Knowledge of sewing/ a sewing machine is required. Must have a will to learn, be open-minded and take on any challenges that come their way. Ideally this is a person who has a wide array of real-life experience to convey to future rock stars of our sport both on the water and in the sail loft.
Sailing skills assumed and welcomed. Actively competing on Oakcliff teams is expected. We would support the ability for the right employee to do pro-sailing or coaching as well, especially if it would benefit Oakcliff as a whole. The work schedule is as follows: 6 days/week during the summer (June-September), 5 days/week during the off season (November-May), with a three week break around Christmas. We can be flexible with the schedule as long as the work gets done.

This position is full time: Summer 6 days a week, Winter 4.5 days a week, 3 week break at the end of the year.
