JOB REQUIREMENTS
Position Summary:
A successful applicant must possess strong interpersonal skills, excellent people skills, administration abilities, and a good understanding of standard Office software. A background in boating and sailing is an asset.
Essential Qualifications:
A minimum of two years’ experience in a coordinator/administrator role
Satisfactory completion of an Instructor Orientation Program
Detail oriented and highly organized
Excellent communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Software: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
SafeSport Certification
CPR/First Aid training
Ability to legally operate a powerboat in Illinois
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
US Sailing Level 1 Instructor
US Sailing Basic Keelboat Instructor Certification
US Safe Powerboat handling
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Include but are not limited to
Ensure the safety of sailors present at Columbia Sailing School
Foster a positive learning environment
Create a fun and enjoyable experience for students
Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for students
Be on time, be prepared
Maintain clean and safe facility
Greet members and visiting yachtsmen as they enter and leave club
Enforce all safety rules in a courteous and professional manner to your students
Keep accurate time records
Maintain and improve the quality of Columbia Sailing School
Provide front line service to inbound and outbound communications for both the Youth and Adult programming
Prepare and support necessary internal communications including: schedules, meeting agendas/notes, learning and development documents, and planning documents
Provide support and maintain and deliver necessary communications and reports to supervisor
Assist with internal data management and processing
May be requested to assist Columbia Sailing School staff as it relates to lessons and on water activities
Supervison / Reporting:
The Operations Coordinator will report directly to The On Water Director. You will also follow any direction by the General Manager of Columbia Yacht Club, Adult Keelboat Coordinator, and Assistant On Water Director.
Expected Work Hours:
Work schedule and hours will vary, but a typical schedule is 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday.
Our peak summer season runs from early May to late September, and the schedule is subject to change depending on circumstances and needs. The schedule includes some evening hours.
Compensation:
You will be paid hourly. Compensation shall be based on experience and hours worked.
