Job Description
Mission Statement: To positively impact lives by providing accessible educational and recreational opportunities on Lake Pontchartrain for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.


Organizational Overview: Community Sailing New Orleans Inc. is a non-profit 501c3 that eliminates the economic and physical barriers to sailing on Lake Pontchartrain. The Alexander Community Sailing Center is over a half-acre located at the newly built municipal harbor. There is a 12,368 square foot bulkhead built to create space for our mobile offices, work areas, and store our fleet of small boats. Onsite, there is a floating dock and hoist to launch and retrieve boats. We also have eight slips where our keelboat fleet is docked. All the finger piers have been designed to be accessible and have transfer equipment. CSNOI’s fleet currently consists of 18 Z420s, 10 420s 10 paddleboards, 7 Independence 20s, 5 Cubes, 3 VSR Ribs, and a Capri 26. Currently being offered are youth development courses with career development and STEM focuses, youth summer camps, adult learn to sail classes, access pass sails, adaptive sailing, and veteran programs. Community Sailing New Orleans's goal is to build an inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy this city’s fantastic resource of Lake Pontchartrain.


Position Overview: The Operations Director will work closely with the Executive Director to ensure Community Sailing New Orleans delivers a quality experience to our constituents. They will help develop and oversee all programs that CSNOI offers. The Operations Director is responsible for managing all related safety protocols and training. The Director will also ensure the maintenance and upkeep of sailboats, powerboats, docks, facility and other sailing equipment and resources. The ideal candidate will be an experienced sailing instructor and program manager. The job will require a person to work some evenings and weekends but a flexible work schedule in the winter months. This position will report directly to the Executive Director.

• Management and execution of all CSNOI programs
• Help recruit, supervise, train, and schedule staff and volunteers
• Engage directly as needed with coaching and instruction
• Fleet and facility maintenance
• Maintain program logs and records
• Develop and execute new growth directives
• Uphold and demonstrate our values of inclusiveness, safety, stewardship, experiential learning, and collaboration

• Minimum of US Sailing Level 1 Instructor Certification
• Five years of experience in program management
• Experience in supervising employees
• Experience in fleet and facility maintenance
• Strong organizational skills
