Job Description
Endeavour Community Sailing is a nonprofit organisation that builds self-confidence, teamwork and life skills

by engaging youth from diverse backgrounds across Bermuda in hands-on experiential learning through sailing.

We invite applications for the full-time position of Operations Manager.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful applicant will be an experienced, highly motivated professional, passionate about youth sailing, experiential education and growing participation in the sport with a strong background in sailing instruction and sailing centre operations.

Using your career sailing experience, managerial and organisational skills you will be responsible for overseeing delivery of Endeavour’s experiential education programmes, leading the fleet maintenance whilst overseeing facilities management to ensure smooth and safe operations at all times.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities:

* Work collaboratively with stakeholders to fulfill the organisation’s mission and vision
* Provide effective leadership for the organisation by setting standards, operating policies and procedures, ensuring positive employee morale and performance
* Devise and lead the maintenance schedule for fleet, hardware and all facilities
* Identify, evaluate and document the risks associated with operations and programme activities and implement action plans and procedures to control risks
* Develop and deliver operating and capital budgets that recognise the financial imperatives of the organisation
* Participate in donor engagements and community outreach activities
* Provide regular updates to the Board of successes and challenges
* Other ad hoc duties that befit this leadership position

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

* University degree or equivalent management working experience
* RYA Senior Instructor, RYA Powerboat instructor, RYA Fun & Safeguarding Certification or equivalent
* RYA First Aid Instructor, RYA VHF/SRC Instructor and RYA Coach Assessor or equivalent are preferred
* Minimum of 3 years’ management experience at a sailing centre, preferably leading a team of youth sailing instructors in a youth development, community sailing, or education setting
* Demonstrable knowledge of teaching Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math through sailing curriculum
* Demonstrated knowledge of boat maintenance including; basic engine and rigging with experience in operating, managing and maintaining sailboats, sail equipment, powerboats and docks
* Financial management and procurement experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, web navigation, and social media applications
* High-energy, hands-on self-starter with proven ability to multi-task with strong organisational, problem-solving, decision-making and project management skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information in one-on-one and group environments
* Exhibit a positive attitude and professional demeanor to promote the organisation with the utmost professionalism at all times
