Job Description
About Us: Norfolk Yacht Club is the region’s premier Junior Sailing facility on the lower Chesapeake Bay.

Our camp programs include:
Opti Beginner, Intro to Opti Racing (Green Fleet), and Racing (RWB Fleets)
FJ/c420 Beginner, Intro to Racing, and Race Teams
Adventure/Cruising in Flying Scots

Our program enrolls children ages 6 to 18.

We are looking for:
- Opti Beginner coaches who will bring fun and excitement to our youngest sailors while leading and teaching in this learn to sail program – the foundation of our program!

- An Intro to Opti Racing (Green Fleet) coach who will motivate our beginner sailors to head for the starting line and teach them the basics of Green Fleet Racing.

- An Opti (RWB) Race Team coach who will lead and prepare our summer race team for regattas around the CBYRA regatta circuit and Opti Nationals.

- An FJ/c420 Coach who will coach teens in this learn to sail class. Separate camp sessions will focus on all skill levels from beginner to spinnaker use.

We are open to hiring international sailors and will provide housing, however, you must be able to pay for your travel VISA. Classes run from the middle of June through the middle of August and range from beginning sailing to racing.

Responsibilities include:

- Instruction in our youth summer camps M-F with some weekend regattas.
- Race Coaches have time off allotted
- Ensuring a safe, organized, and educational waterfront and fleet.
- Upkeep of boats, equipment, and classroom facilities.
- Help prepare and plan activities, chalk talks, etc. each day.
- Must be able to start June 8th and continue through August 7th.
- Other responsibilities considered necessary to meet the goals of the NYCC program.

Job Requirements
- Self-motivated team player
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Strong background and experience in sailing
- Previous experiences in instructing/coaching sailing and a commitment to teaching is preferred
- Must hold US Sailing Level 1 certification or International equivalent
- Must hold Virginia Boating Education Certificate or other state's equivalent
- Must hold current CPR/First Aid certifications
