The Orleans Yacht Club, Inc. The Orleans Yacht Club is looking for a 420 Racing Coach. Race Team
classes are focused on perfecting the processes involved in sailboat racing based on U.S. Sailing Rules
& Regulations.
JOB DESCRIPTION
 Current U.S. Sailing Level 1 certification or equivalent experience
 Minimum of 1 year experience as a Race coach and/or significant 420 racing experience plus at
least one year as a Senior Instructor
 Experience with supervising & teaching children from fourteen to eighteen
 Organize participation in SMSA and other areas Regattas
 Coordinating and communicating parent transport of equipment and sailors to/from regattas
 Ability to work well as part of a team & teach teamwork & sportsmanship
 Ability to manage instruction of advanced sailors on and off the water
 Assist with management of JSP Senior and Junior Instructors (ages 15-21) as needed
 Demonstrate sound judgment on safety, equipment, weather & sailing conditions
 Conduct & oversee Thursday afternoon inter-club multiclass racing
 Current ARC lifeguard certification preferred
 Current First Aid, CPR/AED certifications
 Current Powerboat safety certification or equivalent experience
 Other sailing certifications, child education, or related certifications are a plus
 Must have positive CORI/SORI and reference check results
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Work schedule and hours depend on the assigned class level you will teach.
COMPENSATION
Compensation shall be hourly and based on experience and hours worked. A Performance-Based Bonus
is available.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
The following MUST requirements are mandatory for employment as a Junior Assistant Sailing Instructor
and conform to the MA DPH 105 CMR 430.000 Minimum Standards for Recreational Camps for
Children:

1. Must have transportation to and from the Club.
2. Must be 18 years old.
3. Must have at least three years of sailing and racing experience in small boats (such as prams,
dinghies, multihulls, or day sailing keelboats) either at the OYC or elsewhere.
