Job Description

Wild Harbor Sailing is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable sailing professional to serve as the Full Time Optimist Race Coach for the 9-week Summer Junior Racing Program.

Join the team of active, enthusiastic sailors and families in this windy and idyllic sailing school on Buzzard’s Bay for our short and busy summer season of 3-4 regional Southern Massachusetts regattas and 4 regattas in our local series.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate regatta travel, logistics, and equipment use.
  • Teach racing strategies and tactics to prepare for events and provide support at events.
  • Communicate with families about expectations and regatta plans.
  • Report directly to the Program Director.

Qualifications:

  • Prior Coaching Experience.
  • Deep knowledge of racing, strong communication, excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Current US Sailing Instructor Certification Level One Minimum.

We offer competitive compensation commensurate with experience but do not offer housing at this time.  Interested Candidates should send resume and 2-3 references to Karen Fallon at Krenzulli@gmail.com.

Wild Harbor Sailing has produced some of the best sailors in the Southern Massachusetts Sailing Association, as well as multiple collegiate All-Americans. Wild Harbor has grown to serve over 160 students this summer alone. We also host annual youth regattas for neighboring sailing programs, US Sailing Instructor Trainings, and collegiate and independent sailor training. During the pandemic we also had the opportunity to help Falmouth High School’s Sailing Team find a home. When children grow up with a passion, it is impactful for our community and their enthusiasm is contagious. In that vein, Wild Harbor Sailing has trained a number of students who have gone on to become boat builders, architects, scientists, sailmakers, and environmentalists. They often credit their time at Wild Harbor for inspiring their interest and providing them with the tools they use in their work. Many of our sailors return to instruct, volunteer, and serve on our Board of Directors because of the memories and lessons they learned from their time at Wild Harbor.
