Job Summary

We are excited to announce that the Brant Beach Yacht Club (BBYC) will be hiring its Opti Team Race Coach to lead, coach and develop it Optimist Race Team!

This position is a Summer position which will start on Saturday, June 25th 2022 and end on Saturday, August 20th 2022.

BBYC is located on beautiful Long Beach Island, New Jersey – Exit 63 on the Garden State Parkway. A vacation destination that has a great family orientation, as well as a great spot for the younger generations. Plenty of attractions, some of the best beaches in the world, and 18 Miles of barrier island that offers great thermal sea breezes for our sailing program. BBYC is also a mecca for Dingy Sailors from around the United States. Each year we run at least one major regatta for any number of the dinghy classes. Here is what we have hosted recently:

2012: Optimist Team Trials, Laser Nationals, Club 420, Radial Mid Atlantics

2013: Sunfish Youth Worlds, Sunfish North Americans

2014: Club 420 North Americans, Optimist NJ States, Optimist ACC’s

2015: Laser North Americans will be held for Full, Radial and 4.7

2016: Sunfish Mid-Atlantics, C420 Mid Atlantics, Optimist NJ States

2017: Optimist Team Trials, Sunfish Worlds

2018: Club 420 Nationals / Laser Masters Nationals

2019: Laser North Americans, Optimist ACC’s, Mariner Nationals

2021: C420 National Championship / NJ State Optimist Championship / Laser Masters Atlantic Coast Championship

Responsibilities include:

· Overall Optimist Race Program Development

· Ensuring that safety procedures and protocols are carried out

· Other responsibilities as directed by the Sailing Director


 
Job Requirements
• Enthusiastic, organized and team-oriented
• Experience with and loves working with children
• Previous Sailing Coaching Experience
• Racing Experience
• Minimum of US Level 1 certified
• CPR/First Aid Certified
• NJ Safety Boat License
