Black Rock Sailing School has been successfully in business since 2008 providing an extremely high level of day sailing and cruising instruction to adults.
Currently, we are seeking two full-time sailing instructors for our summer season in Boston MA and Warwick RI beginning in April 2021.
These instructors would be responsible for facilitating the Black Rock curriculum prescribed for each level of ASA course from ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Sailing to ASA 104 Bareboat Charter Certification.
A typical day involves arriving at the marina prior to the start of class and performing a safety check on your training vessel, preparing the classroom for the students arrival, conducting 2 hours of classroom instruction, and then spending 5-6 hours on the water with a maximum of 3 students on your boat.
The candidate for this position must be professional, presentable, a good time-manager, safety conscious, and of course passionate about sailing!
We provide each instructor with pre-season training to prepare them for the classroom component of their duties as well as on water sessions on our fleet of training boats.
We are most interested in individuals who can commit to “full-time seasonal” work which equates to teaching approximately 2 courses a week- roughly equating to a 40 hour work week.
Candidates who are interested in fewer hours (1 course per week) “part-time seasonal” will be considered too!
Upon a successful completion of a summer season, we would be interested in taking on the right individual to join us at our St. Thomas US Virgin Islands base from November to April teaching the same curriculum aboard the training boats we move south.
Other aspects of the position include light boat maintenance, boat cleaning, boat deliveries of not only our training fleet but of customers vessels as well.
Perks include the off duty usage of our smaller Colgate 26 daysailers- pay is competitive!
