Community Sailing New Orleans Inc. (“CSNOI”) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) that eliminates the economic and physical barriers to sailing on Lake Pontchartrain. The Libby and Robert Alexander Community Sailing Center is over a half-acre located at the newly built municipal harbor. There is a 12,368 square foot bulkhead enclosed area built to create space for our headquarters building, work areas, and store our fleet of small boats. Onsite, there is a floating dock and hoist to launch and retrieve boats. We also have eight slips where our keelboat fleet is docked. All the finger piers have been designed to be accessible and have transfer equipment. CSNOI fleet currently consists of 18 Z420s, 10 420s, 10 stand up paddle boards, 7 Independence 20s, 5 Optimist Cubes, 4 RIBs, and a Capri 26. Programs that are currently being offered are youth development courses with career development and STEM focuses, summer camps, adult learn to sail courses, women sailing, access pass sailing, adaptive sailing, and veteran programs. Community Sailing New Orleans’ goal is to build an inclusive environment where all feel welcome to enjoy the City’s wonderful resource of Lake Pontchartrain.
