The Position
As the High School Program Lead you will report to the PYSF Director. You will be responsible for developing introductory to racing-level curricula for the PYSF high school race team; supervising and ensuring that seasonal coaches are following established curricula and adhering to safety regulations; and engaging in outreach activities at Bay Area high schools and youth organizations. You will also assist the PYSF Director when hosting events and perform related duties as needed. This is a full-time position during the academic year. Travel is a requirement of this position.
Primary Duties
- Coach and oversee high school introductory- and racing-level classes
- Supervise introductory- and racing-level coaches
- Track sailors’ attendance and progress from season to season (if applicable)
- Assess both strengths and development needs of individuals and teams
- Oversee and track maintenance of program-level fleet (FJs)
- Assist with maintenance of motorboat and sailboat fleets as needed
- Assist with coaching and set-up for regattas
- Register and schedule sailors in programs and events
- Perform related duties as required
Qualifications
- Extensive experience coaching introductory- through racing-level is highly desirable
- Possession of the following certifications:
– U.S. Sailing “Level 1,2,3”
– U.S. Sailing “Safe Powerboat Handling”
– CPR/First Aid
– Heads-Up Concussion Training
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite tools
- Knowledge of record-keeping principles and practices
