Job Description
Purpose:  To provide a higher level of coaching to all junior programming.  Develop programs to bridge the gap between junior and adult sailing to make lifelong sailors and members.  Provide coaching and support for adult sailboat racing.
 
General
  • Assist the Sailing Director with the recruitment and development of young sailors ages 6 to advanced racing.
  • Lead the design and implementation of curriculum for all sailing programs
  • Emphasizes good sportsmanship in addition to sailing/racing skills
High School Sailing Coach
  • Weekend regatta travel
  • Mentor for sailors
  • Lead coach
  • Organizes on water and on land drills to advance our program
  • Holds clinics for sailors
  • Teach sailors about proper boat care, maintenance, and repairs
Head Race Team Summer Coach
  • Organizes summer schedule and communicates with parents
  • Organizes on water and on land drills to advance the program
  • Holds clinics for sailors
Fleet Maintenance
  • Assist the Sailing Director to make sure boats are in proper working condition, clean, safe and fueled
  • Work with the Sailing Director to take care of smaller, day to day fixes on:
    • Coach boats (currently (5) 13ft whalers, (2) 17ft whalers, (3) inflatables) including cleaning, oil changes, general maintenance, bottom painting, winterizing and preparing for the season.
    • Our current sail fleet includes:  (6) BICs, (20+) Optis, (2) Lasers, (27) 420s, (2 wet, 6 dry) Ideals, (2 wet, 5 dry) Sonars, (1) Catalina 26
  • Women's Racing Program Coach
  • Laser Fleet Coach (Thursday night racing)
  • Sail with a Coach offering weekly coaching for members
  • Organizes annual calendar of Junior Programs and away regattas with Sailing Director

Job Requirements
- US Sailing Level I, II, or III Certification
- Valid CPR/First Aid, SafeSport, and NASBLA Certification
- High proficiency operating powerboats around dinghies and people in the water
- Marine engine maintenance and light repair and diagnosis
- Sailing experience including rigging, tuning, maintenance, and basic repair
- Experience racing sailboats preferred
- Ability to perform necessary functions under stressful, emergent, or crisis situations
- Pass a background check
- Teach sailors about proper boat care, maintenance, and repairs
- Submit to and pass random drug testing
