Rigging Specialist                                                                            

West Coast Sailing 
Full-time – Portland, OR


West Coast Sailing’s mission is to help our customers enjoy their free time on the water. We use our knowledge and passion to provide outstanding service and great products.

Rigging products, such as halyards, sheets, and other spliced running rigging, are a brand new addition to West Coast Sailing’s product range. These items will be produced at our facility from cut lengths of line and sailing hardware. Our end goal is to be an industry leader in offering both high quality and easy to order rigging solutions. The Rigging Specialist will be the primary person assembling these products and will also be responsible for organized production planning and product development. This is a very hands-on position that benefits from strong attention to detail.

Primary Responsibility:

  • Produce sailboat rigging products using written reference information


Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Produce custom sailboat rigging products per customer specifications

  • Contribute to the production of other products including cut-line, insignia cloth, and kits

  • Design new rigging products and continually improve existing products


Measures of Success:
  • Consistent, high-quality products

  • On-time fulfillment of customer orders

  • A safe and organized work environment


  • Basic sailing experience is required

  • Splicing experience is desirable, but not required

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods of time, and bend over a workbench

  • Strong desire to produce quality products that excite our customers

Job Requirements
Basic sailing experience is required.

Be friendly, want to learn, and be driven to do your best work of your life.
A passion for the water and helping others make the most of their time on the water.
Very solid computer skills (the usual programs) and ability to learn new skills quickly.
Strong communication skills, with customers, co-workers and in meetings.
Be coachable. We won’t hold your hand, but you’ll get a lot of rope to do big things.
