Lyford Cay International School is searching for a full time teacher/sailing coach to begin in August of 2023. The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background with a degree in a related field, and will possess a commitment to the life of the school beyond the classroom. A number of different teaching positions can be combined with the role of sailing coach. The teacher can be a Primary School classroom generalist or an Upper School or Middle School specialist teacher of math, science, English, humanities, business, visual arts or Spanish. Teaching certification and a degree are required.
Founded in 2016, Lyford Cay Sailing (LCS) is a collaboration between the Lyford Cay Club and Lyford Cay International School. We are a small, but growing organization. Located on the western end of New Providence (Nassau), in The Bahamas, Lyford Cay enjoys year-round sailing weather. New Providence is less than an hour’s flight to Miami and has direct flights to a number of major cities such as London, Boston, New York and Panama City.
The candidate should be an experienced and effective race coach. He or she should have instructor qualifications and experience with both teaching and coaching sailing. Ideally, he or she will have significant racing achievements of his/her own.
Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience and thenature of the agreed-upon responsibilities. There is eight weeks' leave in the summer.
Additional Programme Information
Junior classes are taught in Optimists, Lasers and RS Quests. The School programme currently involves five after-school sessions per week, catering to beginner, intermediate and Opti race teams, as well as Laser race teams. The coaching team includes two additional teacher-coaches and a Director of Sailing.
