Job Description

The Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania is a leading Yacht Club with over 1700 members located in Hobart, Tasmania. The Club provides a range of facilities and services to its members and guests including a marina with over 200 berths, slipway and storage facilities, trailer boat launching facilities and hard stand, function rooms with capacity for over 400 people and a back bar bistro. The Club is an accredited “Discover Sailing” training centre, provides tackers and junior sailing programs as well as a year-round racing program. 

We are seeking an enthusiastic motivated and experienced person to own the position of sailing coach and who is available during the peak sailing season which runs from  September to May.

Essential requirements and attributes include

·         Sailing coaching or instructing experience

·         Experience in youth or Olympic class sailing dinghies

·         Enthusiasm and energy for coaching young children

·         Excellent communication and listening skills

·         Excellent organisational skills

·         Reliable and trustworthy

·         Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team

·         Focus on safety with the ability to anticipate potential hazards and risks

·         Successful completion of the Australian Sailing ‘Sailing Coach’ Course or equivalent

·         Current First aid certificate

·         Current Driver’s licence

·         Current Motorboat licence
