Job Description
Purpose: To develop the highest quality, dynamic programming for our high school sailing teams, summer campers, and sailing programs. Oversee all junior sail programs, administration and operations.
Junior Sail Administrator:
  • Handle all inquires, requests, sign ups and assignments
  • Follow up throughout program with participants, collect feedback
  • Help market Junior Sail programs
  • Continue to work with program leaders to offer more options and continue the excellence of the programs
  • Monitor inventory and stock of books, tests, supplies and any other necessary material
  • Plan and hold a parent reception and stay engaged with non-member students by inviting them to other events at the Club such as travelogues and outings
  • Provide assistance with the annual budget and annual report of program activities
  • Help with the Junior Olympics and other Junior regattas: recruit volunteers, advertising, donations, etc
  • Organize clinics
  • Recruit, train, mentor and supervise sailing instructors and race coaches
  • Organize youth participation in interclubs and regattas
  • Mentor parents on their role as volunteers
  • Conduct pre-season training with staff
  • Conduct pre-season parent orientation
  • Attend US Sailing events as required with the position
  • Develop a program to bridge the gap between junior and adult sail
  • Operate collaboratively with the Waterfront Director, Clubhouse, Club Leadership. Junior Sail Committee, Yard Crew and other committees as required.
Fleet Manager
  • Responsible for boats listed and ensure they are in proper working condition, clean, safe and fueled
    • Coach boats (currently (5) 13ft whalers, (2) 17ft whalers, (3) inflatables) including cleaning, oil changes, general maintenance, bottom painting, winterizing and preparing for the season
    • Our current sail fleet includes: (6) BICs, (20+) Optis, (2) lasers, (27) 420s, (2 wet, 6 dry) Sonars, (2 wet, 5 dry) ideals, (1) Catalina 26
  • General maintenance such as fiber glassing, replacing rigging and cordage, tuning, maintaining hulls and rigging, recording what work needs to be done and following through. Boat bottom painting, hull faring and waxing, winterizing, prepping for the season.

Job Requirements
- US Sailing Level I, II, or III Certification
- Valid CPR/First Aid, SafeSport, and NASBLA Certification
- High proficiency operating powerboats around dinghies and people in the water
- High level of organizational skills
- Sailing experience including rigging, tuning, maintenance, and basic repair
- Marine engine maintenance and light repair and diagnosis
- Experience racing sailboats preferred
- Ability to perform necessary functions under stressful, emergent, or crisis situations
- Pass a background check
- Submit to and pass random drug testing
