Job Description

Lake Forest Sailing is a US Sailing Certified Community Sailing Center with a strong focus on community learn to sail and youth racing programs with an opportunity and support to expand in all areas of our programming. Our mission at Lake Forest Sailing is to grow the sport within our community while provide everything needed for a sailor to reach their maximum potential.

Lake Forest Sailing operates coach boats, prams, Optis, ILCAs, 29ers and a fleet of brand new C420s. We also have several small keelboats and recreational watercraft in our inventory.

Salary Range: $56,885 - $78,560

Full salary range for this position is $56,885-$78,560.

Starting salary dependent on qualifications. Annual progression based on merit.

Job Requirements

LFS is looking for a full-time Sailing Director & Head Coach who will lead, coach, support, and grow our comprehensive sailing programs. In partnership with the Lakefront Program Manager, a successful candidate will have the ability to:

  • A leader that can be the face of Lake Forest Sailing within our community.
  • Lead & grow our community sailing program.
  • Serve as the head coach and coordinator for our youth racing teams.
  • Work with the Program Assistant to
    • Develop the Adult Sailing programs & opportunities.
    • Administer watercraft permits.
    • Manage operations of Launch Basin, Boating Center, and Boat Storage Areas
  • Recruit & manage summer learn to sail staff, dockhands, and race coaches.
  • Lead the planning of regattas, clinic hosting, marketing, & fundraising initiatives.

Qualifications

  • US Sailing Level 1 Instructor or Higher 
  • Safe Sport Certification
  • Ability to travel frequently, tow trailers, and work weekends/after school hours during sailing season (March-November)
