About Working at Camp
Working at camp will be one of the best jobs you’ll ever have. We’re not just saying that, we really mean it. Every summer, thousands of children from all over the country go to camp for a summer of fun, growth, and friendship. But we're not just invested in our campers; we're also invested in our staff. We know that our overall success is a combined effort, and we therefore strive to provide opportunities for our staff members to learn, grow and thrive too.
As the weeks pass by, you and your campers will come out of your shells, take on challenges, and make new friends. There’s nothing more rewarding than that!
Staff working at our overnight camps are required to live at camp and reside in the cabins alongside their campers. This is a seasonal, salaried position from mid-June to mid-August. Dates vary based on location. Food, housing, a travel stipend, comprehensive staff training, and days off are included as part of the compensation package.
About the Position
Counselors are the heart of our camps. First and foremost, counselors chaperone, supervise, and guide campers through the day-to-day elements of camp, ensuring emotional and physical well-being, and serving as a role model.
In addition to helping with cabin responsibilities, you will also spend part of your day on the water as a sailing instructor. Applicants must be able to sail and ideally would have experience teaching or coaching sailing to children. Ski instructors will serve as lifeguards when not teaching. All waterfront staff are required to complete the Lifeguard/Waterfront/CPR certificates either before beginning employment or when offered during staff training. We cover the costs of all trainings.
Be familiar with and support the successful execution of all camp policies and procedures, including safety and emergency plans
Serve as a primary caretaker for a group of campers, ensuring day-to-day safety and physical and emotional well-being of their campers
Work with other camp staff to ensure the positive resolution of all camper-related issues by communicating clearly and consistently with camp leadership staff on a daily basis
Create and maintain positive relationships with other counselors and Leadership Staff
