Job Description

The Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia seeks enthusiastic, responsible, and organized sailing instructors to teach junior and adult sailing. This includes Summer Junior Sailing Instructors, High School coaches during Spring & Fall Semesters, and Adult Sailing Instructors.


The Summer Sailing Program instructs ~100 sailors each year, ranging from 8 to 16 years old, and adults for private, semi-private & group lessons. Instruction takes place in the Club’s Optimist, 420’s & Flying Scots.

 During Spring & Fall, the Club runs a High School Sailing program that includes weekday practices and Sunday races.

 The Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia is in Essington PA on the Delaware River and only 15 minutes from downtown Philadelphia.


Junior Sailing Program Instructors June 20 to July 29

·         6 weekly sessions for beginners – intermediates from 8:30AM - 4:30PM

·         Some weekend & evening hours to teach private & semi-private lessons to adults.

High School Assistant Coaches Spring & Fall Semesters (March 28 to June 05, September & October)

·         Monday – Wednesday 3:30PM – 6:30PM

·         Tuesday– Thursday 3:30PM – 6:30PM

·         Sunday 1:00 – 5:30PM

Adult Sailing Instructors- June to mid-August in Flying Scots

·         Tuesday & Thursday 5:30PM – 8:30PM

·         Some weekend & evening hours to teach private & semi-private lessons to adults.


Job Requirements
• References that validate skills and characteristics necessary to serve as a positive role model for children
• The ideal candidate will be an experienced sailor with knowledge of teaching and coaching in dinghies and a desire to develop
sailors of all abilities.
• Valid Driver’s License & transportation
• US Sailing Level I*
• Current First Aid/CPR (required)
• Ability to pass a federal background check
• US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling Certification or NASBLA certification.
