Job Description

Join the East Bay Sailing Foundation (EBSF) as a Program Director and lead a dynamic, not-for-profit sailing instruction program based at the scenic Bristol Yacht Club in Bristol, Rhode Island. We're seeking a visionary leader for 2024 and beyond, and the role can be tailored to fit the right candidate. This is a full-time job in the Summer months however, for the right candidate we have opportunities to expand the job into the Spring and Fall with limited hours. 

Job Requirements
1. Management, Leadership & Communication:
● Train, supervise, and mentor sailing instructors and support staff.
● Build strong relationships with the Board, staff, parents, sailors, and BYC partners.
● Facilitate clear written and verbal communications.
● Lead daily staff meetings, check-ins, and regular 1:1 meetings for feedback.
● Cultivate an inclusive culture ensuring everyone at EBSF feels a sense of safety and belonging.
● Participate actively in EBSF Board meetings.
2. Operations and Administration:
● Schedule staff and resources for coverage and payroll purposes.
● Manage and track the assigned program budget.
● Ensure accurate record-keeping in areas of responsibility.
3. Safety and Risk Management:
● Hold current CPR and First Aid certification.
● Prioritize safety, exercise sound judgment, and adhere to EBSF and BYC safety standards.
● Create a safe and supportive learning environment for participants.
4. General Responsibilities:
● Implement and evaluate the program curriculum, ensuring updates as needed.
● Organize and manage Regatta logistics and assist in other programming as needed.
● Support BYC racing programs, including coordination of equipment and volunteers.
5. Maintenance:
● Develop and utilize a process to ensure maintenance needs are communicated and addressed.
● Collaborate closely with maintenance partners.
Qualifications:
● Hold current CPR and First Aid certification.
● Strong program development and management skills with a focus on community sailing.
● Prior leadership experience, including building and managing teams.
● Demonstrated ability to think critically, make sound decisions, and communicate effectively at all levels.
● Ability to set, communicate, and manage competing priorities.
● Proficient in technology, including MS Office, Google Drive, and social media.
