Job Description
The Key West Community Sailing Center, located in the heart of beautiful Key West, Florida, is seeking a full time Program Director. The candidate should be a leader who is highly organized and self-motivated with excellent communication skills.

This is a multifaceted position. The Program Director will be involved in shaping the programming for both youth and adults. The position includes group instruction, coaching, private lessons, general fleet oversight, clinics, regattas and scheduling and supervision of other instructors. This position affords the opportunity to grow and develop, and evolve over time.

Key West is a sailor’s paradise. From warm turquoise waters to exuberant island life, Key West is an ideal location for passionate year-round sailors. Surrounded by one of the largest coral reefs, the island offers pristine conditions for many water sports from scuba diving to kite boarding.

The Program Director reports directly to the Executive Director and is an integral part of the organization. This position is a key role in running all Center activities.

Job Responsibilities:

Duties included, but not limited to:

- Full Time Position.

- Responsible for all Center education programs, including; private one-on-one and group lessons for youths and adults.

- Schedule and supervise other instructors and volunteers.

- Plan and run the youth Summer Camp and after school programs.

- Primary contact and communication with parents of youth programs.

- Organize and oversee maintenance of the Center fleet.

- Uphold a leadership role at the Center.

- Certify new members for use of Center boats through a “check out” sail.

- The ability to solve problems and recognize opportunities for improvement.

- Help build programs and increase participation through community outreach.

- Promote safety, fun, and learning at every opportunity.

- Work closely with the Executive Director to build and grow the Center.

Job Requirements
- Minimum level 1 US Sailing Instructor certification (Level 2 or 3 preferred, or willing to advance to Level 3).
- Good with kids and adults.
- Excellent personal and interpersonal social skills.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and good time management skills.
- Organization and computer skills.
- High level of skill, understanding, and comfort on small sailboats/dinghies.
- Familiar with a variety of the following boats: Hobie Wave, Hobie 16, Laser, Sunfish, Precision Daysailer, Opti, Bic/O’pen Skiff, C420.
- High level of proficiency in power boat handling.
- Able to pass a background and drug test.
- Current Safesport and First Aid certifications.
- Basic social media abilities (Facebook, Instagram, etc).
- A fun and professional attitude.
