Job Description

Sea Cliff Yacht Club is accepting applications for Program Director / Head Instructor and Sailing Instructors.

SCYC provides a dynamic junior sailing program for beginner and advanced sailors ranging in age from 8-16. Boats include Optimist, ILCA (Laser), RS Feva and Club 420. Positions are salaried, full-time for 8 weeks beginning mid-June ending mid-August.

  • The Program Director / Head Instructor will have strong leadership and management skills, a passion for sailing, and significant experience working with children. Responsibilities include: Manage the program in accordance with best practices; Design and coordinate appropriate and engaging activities for the junior sailors when they are not able to be on the water; Communicate with parents on a regular basis; Train, schedule, supervise and evaluate instructional staff; Implement a quality assurance/safety program to assure best practices in vessel operation, instruction and safety; Monitor and maintain all jr sailing club owned vessels and equipment; Work closely with Jr Sailing chairs on program preparation and ongoing operations; Have proper certifications such as US Sailing Level 3 Head Instructor or higher, US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling, CPR/First Aid. . 
  • Sailing Instructors will have solid personal sailing experiences and have a strong patience and desire to share their experience with young sailors. Instructors participate in regattas as needed along the Long Island Sound. We are currently looking for at least three instructors that are in or have had collegiate sailing experience to elevate our advanced sailors looking to compete at a higher level. Instructors must have a minimum Level 1 Sailing Instructor Certification, We sponsor and may require Level 2 certification dependent on the instructor’s role. A US Powerboat Safe Handling Certification along with current First Aid and CPR will also be required at the beginning of the season. Salaries are competitive and lunch is provided.
