Job Description
The Quissett Yacht Club (QYC) Junior Sailing Program (https://quissettyachtclub.org/) is accepting applications for one Opti and one 420 Race Team Coach for the summer of 2023, which will run from June 20 - August 19 on weekdays sailing out of Quissett Harbor, located on the Eastern side of Buzzards Bay in Falmouth.

 

Positions are available for either full day teaching, or half day afternoons only (plus regatta days). Race coaches working in the mornings will support a cadre of experienced assistant and junior instructors who manage the morning instructional classes.
 

QYC’s Opti Race team practices weekday afternoons from 1:30-4:30 and competes in 4-5 local regattas each season, mostly on weekdays.

QYC has two 420 race classes: the 420 Junior Race Team, which practices from 10:15 am-12:15 pm, and the 420 Race Team, which practices from 1:30 pm-4:30 pm and competes in 5-6 local regattas each season.

Primary responsibilities of the Race Coaches include:

  • Planning and instructing QYC classes that teach Opti or 420 fleet racing

  • Coordinating and communicating parent transport of equipment and sailors to/from regattas

  • Coaching QYC competitors on the water at regattas

Salary is $20/hr and up, commensurate with experience. Additional hours are available for teaching private lessons. Housing is not provided.

Qualifications
* Minimum 18yrs old on June 20th
* At least 3 seasons of sailing instructing/coaching experience
* Strong and demonstrated dinghy racing experience
* Current or former collegiate sailing and/or high school racing is preferred
* US Sailing Level 1 Certification required, Level 2 preferred
* Current CPR/ First Aid Certification (provided free during set up week)
