Senior Sailing Staff
The Northern Lake George Yacht Club, located in Hague, NY, is looking for senior sailing staff to oversee the sailing component of its 7-week Junior Program during Summer 2023. The senior sailing staff supervise and work alongside 4 to 6 instructors and interns to provide daily morning lessons and afternoon competitive junior racing programs. They must be at least 18 yo and have a minimum of 2 years experience teaching sailing to children ranging from 5 to 16 and also have competitive coaching experience. US Sailing Level 1 certification is required.
Additional positives: More than two years teaching and/or coaching, US Sailing Level 2 certification, personal experience racing single or double-handed sailboats, familiarity with FJs, Optimists, and N10s, experience managing staff and instructional programs for children.
Employment dates: June 26 through August 11, 2023
Hours: 8:30-4:30 PM Mon-Thurs, 9 AM to 12 PM Saturdays. Salary commensurate with experience.
Housing may be available.
Founded in 1941, NLGYC is located in upstate New York on Lake George. The mission of NLGYC’s Junior Program is to develop lifelong skills in swimming, tennis, and sailing; to foster sportsmanship and sailboat racing skills; and to encourage lifelong friendships. The afternoon racing programs include FJs and Optimists and promote the fundamentals and advanced racing skills to sailors ages 8-14.
