Short term work in Chicago Boatyard as a Sailboat Rigging Assistant or Dock Hand

Join our dedicated team at Crowley's Yacht Yard, a premier boatyard in Chicago known for storing meticulously maintained sailboats.  As a Sailboat Rigging Assistant or Dock Hand, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our boats are ready for winter storage. If you have experience on sailboats or possess mechanical skills, we invite you to be part of our vibrant team this September through November. 

Sailboat Rigging Assistant: 

- Participate in removing sails preparing turnbuckles.

- Assist in unstepping masts on various sailboats.

- Collaborate with experienced riggers to learn the intricacies of sailboat rigging. 

*Dock Hand:* 

-Assist owners in tying up.

-Moving boats into the Travelift Slip.

-Assist in sling placement.

*Mechanics*

-Winterizing diesel and gas engines

-Winterizing water systems

-Equipment Operators 

Job Requirements

- Previous experience working on sailboats is preferred but not mandatory; we are willing to train motivated individuals. 

- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and DC electrical components is advantageous. 

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols. 

- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and communicate effectively.
